What is Slaptap ?
Slaptap is a UK based online skate shop run by me, Mike Gogerty. I have been skating for over 15 years and have been involved in the industry in all sorts of ways from running a skate school to judging comps. I have helped others with an online news/magazine called Masscrew, back in the day. Skating is basically my life.
I am from the Midlands and have travelled all over the UK to follow great skating. I am now based in the South West where I have hooked up with some great skaters.
I have a great shop team backing me who help with distribution, stock and advice for you guys. They are always happy to help and can always contact me if you need something more specialist.
What does this website provide ?
This is not just a shop but a new brand that works for skaters and helps showcase the skating talent we have in the UK. This means I want to hand part of our site over to you. Please help us all support skating by sending us at Slaptap - videos, photos, reviews etc...We will be gradually developing the site to include a members only section and a news forum etc... I think we should eventually have a section for every skating need within our site and if we don’t we’ll make one ! It's your site.Tell us what you want and enjoy the ride.
Help out with choosing our future stock ?
The shop will initially be stocked with products we are happy to promote and recommend but we want to know what you want and like, and where possible we will respond to your needs each time we re-stock. Email: info@slaptap.com to tell us of any items you want to see in the shop or if you know of any new suppliers or brands you think we should stock. No promises, there may be good reasons we can't stock something you like but we will always try to please if we can.
A shop, a magazine, and also a killer team.
We already have a killer team of new and experienced riders. Si Coburn heads up with 13 years of roller experience and a lot of DVD footage, check him out. He also rides for the Remz team and needs very little introduction to anyone who knows the skate world. Rosie O’Donoghue is an amazing up and coming roller from Scotland with a Slamm Jamm title already under her belt watch out for her this year as she's won a scholarship to go over to the USA to ride, thanks to the Rich Taylor foundation. Third to join the team is Matt Smith, featured in the Cider Kids DVD, Matt has been a huge supporter of our company - being there on our trade stand at all our events, you may well have been helped or advised by Matt at NASS or SlammJamm etc... watch out for some great edits on our blogs etc as he often teams up with Mark Worner a superb video / film maker. Jon Hubbard joined us next and once you meet him you'll know him! A great rider with lots of experience on the street he's our North of England man. A great character and a stylish roller. Often seen at events encouraging our junior fans and always there to help on the stands at shows. Danny Aldridge is the latest to join us and his style and acrobatic talent is easy to see, he won the best trick at NASS 2010 and rolls for Team Extreme. You may have have caught sight of him behind Cher skating on the X factor. He is currently involved wtih other projects which will see him featured on the TV again in 2011. Our young and up and coming raw talent is Dano Gorman. He rolls in Southern Ireland and we think is a real talent to watch for as he matures. His slight figure moves effortlessly around the park. He's a fast athletic skater with a smooth style all his own. Last but by no means least we have lately been joined in July 2011 by Blake Bird. Blake skates and lives in the London area. He's a seasoned great skater and his cheeky fun style will leave you wanting more, we think his edits so far have been awesome and hope he continues the way he's started, we love his commitment. To keep an eye on team progress watch the blogs and fan pages on facebook and visit events where we have stands as they are happy to sign autographs etc and are great for advice about skate set ups etc...
A lucky shop with loads of superb supporters. THANKS
We think we are very lucky to have such superb support. having mentioned our team who we think are stunning. We must also mention the many other people who have been good enough over the last year to assist in other ways - those who give us huge support by manning stands, loading the vans , help build the stand and break it down, those who film for us and assist in creating the many amazing edits featured on our blogs - you know who you are thanks.
Last but not least thanks to all our fans and loyal customers who also post to our facebook and keep us informed and updated about events round the UK. We can't support everyone all the time but it's been great getting involved with events and comps round the UK.
